2021 Welcome and Strategic Plan 2021/22 announcement

Despite the difficult start to the year CDE begins 2021 with a sense of optimism and purpose. During the later part of last year work was undertaken across the movement to develop a strategic plan leading up to November’s COP 26 and consolidating the movement going forward. The strategic plan is now available to read here and information on the new structure and working groups is available here. Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation and gave time and thought to its development.

Funding Boost for 2021

At the end of 2020, we were successful in applying for a third grant from the Gulbenkian Foundation UK for some core costs for CDE. The Gulbenkian originally funded the first assembly we held at The Roundhouse in Camden, London in July 2019. They then awarded a grant of £10K that enabled us to employ our National Coordinator Victoria Burns for a year along with some other essentials. This grant for £20K will enable us to deliver on several elements of the Strategic Plan that many people contributed to last year.  We can continue Victoria’s vital support, and bring in a Digital Communications Consultant and a Social Media Coordinator – details of both roles above. The grant will also support The Offer, Regional Hub development, Assemblies, work around anti-racism and decolonisation, and a more functional website. Many thanks to the Gulbenkian Foundation for their ongoing belief in CDE.

Thanks too to Complicité Theatre, who have managed grants and contracts for CDE for the past 18months.  Going forward we’re going to be hosted by Climate2025, a not-for-profit organisation who support projects and causes tackling the climate & ecological emergency.  We’re excited about working with them, and you, to make change in 2021
