on form sculpture

We are an exhibition of sculpture in stone in a beautiful garden. In a walled garden over the road, we grow vegetables on permaculture principles, some of which is used in our Potting Shed café

Declaration

We show stone sculpture in a beautiful organic garden, and we have always used the rapture and goodwill that beauty can generate as a platform from which to nudge people gently – or sometimes not so gently - outside of their comfort zones.

Concern for the fragility of the natural world has always been a theme explored by our sculptors and curators; this year, the scientific truths about climate change and biodiversity loss will be more transparently expressed, and our vision of the change we want to be part of will be woven through everything we do.

Difficult conversations can be illuminated by artistic vision, and enabled by inclusive surroundings where sculpture can be touched and strangers smiled at.

In our walled garden, where vegetables are grown on permaculture principles for a community supported agriculture (CSA) project, our Potting Shed café will serve mainly plant-based food, and will be a source of information for the curious about the climate impacts of different kinds of eating.

We are aware that people are feeling fragile at the moment. We do not want people to feel that they are personally responsible for saving the world, and we still believe that joy, beauty and hopefulness are among our most powerful tools. But science and truth are tools too, and if we ignore them, there will be no incentive for the systemic change that is needed. We do not have all the answers; we are feeling our way.
