Beatrice Allegranti

Declaration

I am transdisciplinary feminist choreographer, filmmaker and UKCP registered dance movement psychotherapist, and Reader at the University of Roehampton, School of Arts. Over the past 25 years, my choreography and film work has toured internationally (France, U.S.A, Norway, Finland, Ireland, Hong Kong, Japan, Poland, Germany), and my clinical experience includes private practice and the UK National Health System (adult mental health and dementia services), and consultancy (Arts for Peace, Irish Defense Forces, Wellcome Trust). Across my artistic, clinical, and scholarly work, my focus involves an ethical re-visioning of the way we relate with/in the more-than-human. Declaring is an ethical imperative in order to engage with the social, political, and environmental inequalities of loss, vulnerability, othering, care and hope that chime with the tangled ÔnownessÕ of the global pandemic, collective loss and ecological mourning. For me, bodies in political spaces subjected to force can be potent (and hopeful) artistic agents of change.
