Declaration
Maynard is a place for everybody to gather and dance together, sharing different ways of being in our bodies, as equals in a changing world. Maynard invites communities and artists to engage in making friendships, making change, making belonging, making dances, and making home in our bodies.
Our home is in Abercych, in the Teifi valley, in rural west Wales. Our dances can take place inside, outside, nearby, on a screen or far away. Through performances, events, social dances, films and workshops we support and enhance the dance culture in this part of the world, promoting health, creative process and wellbeing.
We have recently become a Community interest Company (CIC).
We are interested in how an engagement with different artists might begin to reveal the complexity of ‘community’. What is the nature of communities that emerge through dancing together? and how do we provide activities for these communities and understandings to develop in a rural area?
We are interested in declaring emergency in order to express solidarity with other artists who might be thinking similar thoughts about the changing climate, its impact on the geopolitical landscape, the lives of human and other than human beings and the future of our earth.
