Artists for Climate Action

Declaration

Artists for Climate Action (2015 to present) is an exchange and education location on Facebook for artists interested in bringing their artistic skills and creativity into action to address the effects of the climate emergency. We welcome artists from anywhere who wish to share how they are taking action on the climate emergency through their art. Emphasis in the discussion will be on how Florida resident artists can effectively collaborate with new and ongoing activist climate emergency campaigns in Florida. Posts on forms and aesthetics of activist art group members find particularly effective or useful to consider are also welcome, whether or not they are directly related to the climate emergency. The photograph below is of actionart props designed and created by Alessandra Mondolfi (https://www.facebook.com/alessandra.mondolfi) for the Support Science March in Miami, 2018. AFCA encourages artists to engage with groups planning such demonstrations to make their messages resonate. We do not support only art for marches and demonstrations, however. We encourage artists to engage tactically to critique the institutions and entities that are holding back resilience efforts in as many ways as imagination provides. The FB page publicizes all such interventions and seeks financial and public support for them from such organizations as the Backbone Project's Community Activist program.
