Aluna

Declaration

Located at 0° longitude on the Greenwich Peninsula, Aluna will be the world’s largest Moon and Tide Clock. Three vast recycled glass rings will track the Moon’s cycles and influences on the Earth with slowly moving light. Designed as a place of celebration and connection with the Earth and each other, Aluna’s rings will create a public space of gathering for international festival, education and community events for everyone, of all backgrounds, all cultures. Sustainably built and powered naturally by the Sun and the Moon’s tides, Aluna will run for generations to come.
Aluna speaks to this moment in human and planetary history where we are facing unprecedented environmental challenges. Aluna will lead to providing a permanent symbol, timekeeper and London cultural space for this new emerging culture, as we learn to understand and care for the Earth and each other, transform our cultures and technologies, and transition to a zero carbon, socially
just future.

We are very grateful for the Culture Declares Emergency platform - a vital initiative at this time. We believe the only way to respond to this global challenge, is for us to change our cultures - individually and collectively - to reflect our interconnectedness with, our belonging to, and our influence on Nature, its cycles and the Earth's ecosystems. The cultural sector has the creativity and broad understanding to be able to inspire and create this change.

Thank you so much Culture Declares Emergency team for this change you are creating!
